What better way to get into the creepiness of Halloween than introduce some scary characters. Whether it’s a haunted house of horrors or a gothic mansion theme, I always love decorating the library at Halloween. It’s the only time that cobwebs can cover the bookshelves – and it’s ok. Of course Halloween wouldn’t be complete without Harry Potter. My Dad created a version of the Harry Potter Sorting Hat which I use as a fun way to get students to read. Students can spin the hat and whatever Hogwarts house the spindle stops at students can choose a book from the section assigned to the house. It could be murder mystery, it could be an adventure book or it could be something that goes bump in the night.
