On Tuesday 28 November, I brought a group of TY students out to beautiful Glencree to take part in a ‘Fighting Words’ creative story writing workshop. Fighting words provides free tutoring and mentoring in creative writing. For the first half of the session, students started a dialogue and from there together built the first half of a story. In the second half of the session students had to work on an ending of the story by themselves. At the end a few students read their stories to the group. Some of the stories were really funny, others were very poignant. They were all excellent. Students seemed to really enjoy the workshop and I hope it will be the first step to creating budding authors in the future.
